Illicit Network Intelligence (INI)

Data on the networks your screening can't see

Structured datasets of people, companies and the relationships between them, in markets where the official record is missing or false. Every subject and every link comes with its source.

How INI differs

Most criminal networks operate off the list

Sanctions lists and designations record the people and companies authorities have already acted on. The networks around them rarely appear on any list at all, including the front companies, relatives, facilitators and suppliers that keep them running.

INI maps those networks from documented research, so they can enter your screening before any formal action names them. Each entry records where it came from, so your team can check the evidence before acting on it.

What we deliver

Mapped networks, not lists of names

Subjects.

Relationships.

Who is connected to whom, how, and why.

Sources.

Recorded against every subject and relationship.

Datasets your team can bring into your own platform or screening process via flat file or API.

Where we go deepest

Depth where coverage runs thin

20+ years researching organised crime in Latin America, and another ten in Africa. Our data goes deepest on organised crime and FTO-designated organisations, where most risk data runs out.

Every dataset maps how the people and companies in a network connect, with a source behind every link.

35+ network datasets across 80+ jurisdictions.

Who we work with

For screening platforms and the companies that rely on them

Screening and due diligence platforms. Data and product teams who need coverage their clients are asking for, particularly in Latin America and FTO-designated groups.

Companies with exposure in the Global South. Security, compliance and legal teams who need to know who they are dealing with when their screening comes back clean.

Most conversations start with one of these.

  • A client, regulator or journalist finds an entity your screening missed
  • An RFP asks about your Latin America or FTO coverage
  • A competitor wins a deal on coverage you couldn't match
  • A new group designation covers people your data was never built to discover
  • Your screening comes back clean on a partner you still have doubts about

Taking Mexico organised crime coverage beyond sanctioned names

The question

How do we extend our coverage beyond sanctioned entities and PEP exposure?

What we found

Beyond the sanctioned names the platform already held, we documented more than 5,000 people and companies connected to FTO-designated groups in Mexico. That included the front companies, relatives and facilitators around those groups, and how they connect.

What happened next

The platform's clients can now screen against our Mexico FTO data inside the platform they already use. Our data schema ensures that entity resolution. Our data provenance transparency means you see what we see for every subject. Human source inquiries point us in the right direction, primary sources lock in the research.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Question not here? Talk to our team

What does it take for a subject or relationship to be included?

Every entry must be documented by a public source. Media reporting needs at least one independent source to corroborate it, and specialist sources are vetted by our analysts before use. Where a serious claim can't yet be verified, it's included only with a clear caveat.

What does each record contain, and how does it reach our systems?

Each subject carries the identifying details we can verify, its relationships to other subjects, the source behind each one, and sanctions list identifiers where the subject is designated. Records are delivered by API, MCP or structured file, and map into your own entity model. Every subject has a unique identifier, which ensures consistency over time as our database grows.

Can we license a single country or network rather than everything?

Yes. Datasets can be licensed individually, for example one country or one network, or together as a bespoke dataset. We are able to organize our data around your use case.

A subject isn't sanctioned. How should we act on the match?

We include risk flags for every subject, so you are able to use our research as a leading indicator and treat it as a lead for enhanced due diligence. The entry description shows why the subject is there, and where you need a defensible answer on a specific counterparty, our investigations team can look into it further.

What happens if an entry is wrong or out of date?

Tell us, and our analysts review it against its sources. Confirmed corrections are included in the next refreshes.
